Rectangular & Circular Attenuators

At Wakefield Acoustics we specialise in the design, manufacture, and installation of acoustic rectangular and circular attenuators for industrial noise control. Our acoustic solutions ensure your business complies with the industrial noise and environmental regulations.

Bespoke Noise Control Solutions

Our bespoke solutions are engineered to provide high quality noise reduction and noise control management during the operation of processed air and industrial ventilation applications. The varied applications delivering industrial air movement through fans, blowers and compressors requires custom-designed solutions to ensure required noise levels are met.

From start to finish we will provide a professional and high-quality service with industry leading acoustic solutions for the internal and external environments.

Rectangular Attenuators Noise Control

Our bespoke rectangular attenuators are designed using detailed acoustic analysis, ensuring compliance with project requirements. External casings of attenuators are designed to withstand internal duct pressures, whilst reducing breakout noise and suitably protecting against corrosion according to the installation location.

Rectangular attenuators are optimised for controlling noise from industrial ventilation, specialist extraction systems and air input for both small and large-scale applications.

Circular Attenuators

Bespoke circular attenuators provide an effective solution to reduce noise from industrial air movement from fans and blower, through the use of acoustically absorbent linings and central pods.

At Wakefield Acoustics we design, manufacture, and install circular attenuators for high pressure and low-pressure systems ensuring your business meets the requirements of industrial noise control regulations and environmental noise restrictions.

Industry Applications

Both Rectangular and Circular attenuators are industrial noise control products for multiple industries such as Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Petrochemical, Peaking Power Plants, Manufacturing and more.

For over 40 years Wakefield Acoustics acoustic engineers have provided industry leading noise control solutions to control all types of noise sources for high performance industrial ventilation and process air applications.

What is a splitter attenuator?

A splitter attenuator reduces noise from fans and blowers in industrial ventilation and air movement systems. The splitter attentuator comprises of an outer steel casing (duct), and contains a number of vertically aligned acoustic splitters (also known as baffles or pads), which contain absorptive materials to reduce noise from air intakes and exhausts, or to reduce noise travelling through a ductwork system

Do attenuators reduce noise?

Splitter attenuators reduce noise from large ventilation and air conditioning systems within industrial and commercial buildings. They can manufactured to fit any size requirements and installed in multiple numbers.

What is acoustic attenuator?

Acoustic attenuators are designed to absorb sound waves from intrusive noise from fans and blowers into acoustic insulation contained in a series of internal acoustic ‘baffles’ or ‘splitters’. The attenuators are sized based upon the required level of noise reduction and the airflow required to pass through the unit

What are rectangular and circular attenuators?

Rectangular and circular attenuators are designed to reduce noise from industrial air movement systems while allowing airflow to pass through. These attenuators are manufactured and designed to provide high levels of noise reduction

How do rectangular attenuators work?

Rectangular attenuators are tailor made for controlling noise from industrial ventilation, specialist extraction systems and air input for both small and large-scale applications. They work by applying acoustically absorbent materials within the airflow path, allowing sound waves to enter the acoustic media, whilst air flow passess between the panels through airway spacings

How do circular attenuators differ from rectangular ones?

Circular attenuators provide an effective solution to reduce noise from industrial air movement from fans and blower. Circular attenuators are designed to match round ductwork systems and often feature a central acoustic pod surrounded by absorbing material, while rectangular attenuators use parallel baffle configurations.

How do attenuators affect airflow and system performance?

Rectangular and circular attenuators are designed to withstand pressures imposed by mechanical plant, whilst providing noise reduction. The attenuator imposes a back pressure onto a fan or blower, which must be considered as part of the design of the full system. Where attenuators are retro-fitted into existing systems, care must be taken to ensure the attenuator offers a minimal pressure loss so that airflow rates are not significantly reduced
